Greetings, Bonjour, & Howdy Gentle Reader:
I’m happy to share that my short story “A Pass for the Brokenhearted,” published in The Louisville Review's Spring 2025 issue, has arrived. I created a sort of un-wrapping video that tracks the story’s evolution from epistolary exercise to a fully-formed story. And along the way, I used books from my shelves to give a shout out to all of those writers, poets, editors, and educators who played a role in its evolution.
The story was part of my work with Roy Hoffman in Spalding’s Post-Master’s Certificate in Writing Enrichment offering. As always, a massive thanks to Flora Schildknecht (Editor and Executive Director) for including me in the issue and to Patricia Ann Foster (Guest Fiction Editor) for working with me to make the story ready for the issue’s pages! I hope you enjoy the video (even though I hate being on camera!) and check out the below link to discover more, including the cover, which features a drawing by Louisville artist Martin Rollins, East of Franck.
